The Reunion group gathered in front of the Windsor Historical Society before boarding the bus for an afternoon tour
Windsor Historical Society in the Fyler House
Windsor graveyard, Griswold stone
The Griswold Family Association held their Annual Reunion on Saturday, August 6th in Windsor Connecticut. A hardy group met for our Executive Board meeting at the hotel on Friday night, in the midst of a downpour. Thanks to Sara for opening up her room for the meeting.
On Saturday morning we drove to the Windsor Historical Society, located in the historic Fyler House. We shared breakfast, conducted our Annual Meeting and saw an interesting presentation by the staff on the Griswolds in Colonial Windsor. We then toured the Fyler House and museum exhibits. After a box lunch, we boarded a bus to visit Palisado Green and the First Congregational Church and Burial Grounds where we saw many Griswold stones, drove through historic Windsor and past Poquonock Griswold home sites and burial grounds. We then rode down to tour the Wethersfield historic district, and enjoyed a lovely “afternoon tea,” (actually iced tea and lemonade, fruit and cookies, very refreshing on a hot afternoon!) and a tour of the Michael Griswold house. Many thanks to Suzanne Moody and her family for hosting that event.
A special vote of thanks to Richard Griswold for organizing an educational and enjoyable reunion once again. And a word of welcome to those who joined us for the first time. Congratulations to our new Co-Presidents Sara and Sarah, and thanks to all who serve on the Executive Board.
GFA President Dr Sara French was re-elected for another term; she will be joined by Sarah Brooks as co-president for 2012-14. Thanks, Sara, for all you do for this group
