Griswold Family Association Reunions & Special Events

  • August 2010 - The 104th Northeast Pennsylvania Griswold Reunion met on August 28, 2010 at Merli-Sarnoski Park, Carbondale, PA, with a Basket Picnic beginning at noon. The event was chaired by Robert and Donald Powell. The NEPA group will meet in August 2011, details to be announced
  • August 6th, 2011 - one-day reunion in Windsor, CT; chaired by Richard Griswold and Anne Griswold Willard.  Hotel arrangements at Homewood Suite Hotel in Windsor Locks. See our June GFA Bulletin for registration and details.
  • August 3rd-5th, 2012 - three-day reunion in Macon, GA, site of the Battle of Griswoldville and Samuel Griswold’s factory. There is much to see in this area!  Barbara Ryan will chair the event with lots of help from family and GFA members in the region! Preview: I have settled on Macon Georgia as our main location but there are many sites within easy drives for bus tours and optional visits. If you are planning to attend, let me know which of these locations appeal to you, and suggest any others. Macon has Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, Tubman African American Museum, Douglass Theatre, Hay House, Cannonball House, Sidney Lanier Cottage and at least two cemeteries with Griswold Graves. Nearby is the historical marker for the site of the Battle of Griswoldville. Samuel Griswold’s cotton gin/munitions factory was in this area. Washington Memorial Library has one of the most outstanding genealogy/history collections in the South. Ocmulgee River Heritage Trail boasts a statue of Otis Redding at the entrance to Gateway Park. Fort Hawkins has a replica of the Southeaster Blockhouse and figured in the War of 1812. Atlanta GA and all it has to offer is about 70 miles away and will be the closest major airport for travelers. The historic city of Milledgeville, the antebellum capital, is not far from Griswoldville and is having special activities this year.

Consider hosting a reunion and/or planning a “Reunion Within A Reunion” , a gathering of your own family to coincide with our meeting. It’s a wonderful way to get the family together and honor their ancestors. We have published guidelines for running a reunion and several members who would be happy to share their expertise with you. We will go wherever there is a Griswold connection and a group of people to host us!

AND THE WINNERS ARE: Barb Lauderbach and family, for the most family members attending the 2010 Annual Reunion - congratulations and thanks for all you help!
